October 13–16, 2026 | COEX, Seoul, South Korea
The 57th Korea Electronics Show (KES 2026) was held at COEX in Seoul, South Korea, from October 13 to 16.
As a key hub for the global display industry, South Korea provided an important platform for ChasingLight Technology to showcase its ambient-light energy harvesting technology and highlight the applications of organic photovoltaics (OPV) in smart displays. The solutions offer new ways to power display devices, reducing reliance on wired power connections and enabling autonomous, wire-free operation.

The South Korean market places particular emphasis on flexible display installation and the challenges of power cabling. During KES 2026, local media outlet Nexus Insights featured ChasingLight Technology’s OPV-powered advertising display in an article exploring the wireless era. The report highlighted the display’s light-powered charging capability, battery-free design and maintenance-free operation.
According to the report, the display can operate without dedicated power cabling by harvesting energy from indoor lighting or other ambient light sources. This addresses a key limitation of conventional displays, which often require dedicated power connections at the installation site.

This is the thinking behind ChasingLight Technology’s participation in KES 2026: As displays become ubiquitous, the way they are powered must evolve too.
As display devices become increasingly prevalent across retail, smart offices, public transportation and smart homes, deployment volumes continue to grow. At the same time, demand is rising for flexible installation and maintenance-free operation. Traditional power solutions, however, remain constrained by wiring requirements and the need for battery replacement, making it difficult to fully meet these evolving needs.

With advantages including energy harvesting under low-light conditions, a lightweight and flexible form factor, and tunable transparency and color, OPV technology can be integrated directly into the surface structure of display devices. This enables devices to harvest ambient light and convert it into electrical energy for self-powered operation, providing greater flexibility in power supply design and expanding the deployment possibilities and application scope of smart displays.
OPV-powered smart display solutions are beginning to transform how display devices are powered. ChasingLight Technology has partnered with leading brands to bring OPV technology to multiple display categories:
Electronic Advertising Displays
ChasingLight Technology has partnered with Motohiro Co., Ltd. (株式会社モトヒロ), a Japanese company specializing in the customized development of smart devices and digital signage, to introduce multiple OPV-powered electronic advertising displays for applications in supermarkets, office buildings and other commercial environments.
Railway Information Displays
JR East i-STATIONS has introduced displays incorporating ChasingLight’s OPV technology, providing a green energy solution for railway information display systems.
E-Paper Display Devices
For ultra-low-power display devices such as electronic shelf labels and electronic nameplates, OPV modules can continuously harvest energy from indoor ambient light to power the displays. This reduces reliance on batteries and enables maintenance-free operation.

OPV-powered solutions are expanding across a growing range of display applications, offering greater flexibility and a more sustainable approach to powering smart displays. As OPV technology continues to mature and scale toward mass production, ChasingLight Technology will further advance the integration of OPV into smart display systems, enabling self-powered operation and wire-free deployment while opening up new possibilities for smart displays across a broader range of applications.
