ChasingLight Named to 36Kr’s 2026 Hardcore 100 List in the Future Energy Category
Latest Updates
36Kr has recently unveiled its 2026 Hardcore 100 list, recognizing companies driving innovation across key technology sectors. ChasingLight has been named to the Future Energy category in recognition of its continued advances in ambient light energy harvesting technology and progress in commercialization.
The Future Energy category brings together companies operating across key areas of the global energy transition, including power batteries, sodium-ion batteries, hydrogen energy, and ambient light energy harvesting. Each represents a leading force in its respective field. ChasingLight joins the list with its focus on ambient light energy harvesting, representing an emerging approach to distributed, low-power energy generation and contributing to the evolving landscape of future energy.

ChasingLight’s role in the future energy landscape is to address a critical need at the device level: enabling connected devices to draw on ambient light as a continuous, sustainable source of electrical power.
On the power supply side, OPV-based ambient light energy harvesting complements centralized power infrastructure by bringing energy generation closer to the devices themselves.
For low-power devices, OPV can replace conventional batteries, reducing replacement and maintenance requirements while enabling greater deployment flexibility. This is particularly valuable in indoor, mobile, and hard-to-access environments where regular battery replacement is impractical. For devices and systems with higher energy demands, OPV can continuously harvest ambient light to supplement their power supply and extend operating time.
On the sustainability side, OPV-based ambient light energy harvesting puts otherwise unused ambient light to work. By reducing reliance on disposable batteries, it helps minimize battery consumption and associated waste, enabling connected devices to operate with a lower environmental footprint.

The 2026 Hardcore 100 selection process evaluates companies across three dimensions: technological advancement, innovation, and industry potential. Its assessment considers the strength of technological approaches, the maturity of technical achievements, and the ability to deliver new solutions for real-world applications. ChasingLight’s inclusion recognizes its progress along a path from technological innovation to application validation and commercial deployment.
Looking ahead, ChasingLight will continue to turn ambient light into scalable, sustainable micro-power solutions, advancing low-carbon, maintenance-free power for connected devices. By bringing OPV technology into a wider range of applications and working alongside global energy technology companies, ChasingLight aims to help shape the future energy landscape and establish ambient light energy harvesting as a meaningful part of a more sustainable energy ecosystem.
